My New Watercolour And Acrylic Painting, “BLOOM”

Hi Friends,

It has been a while since I last posted! I hope you’re well and having a blessed weekend.

Things have been a bit busy for me lately, and I have also been recovering from a strange fluey bug, but I’m happy to say that I’ve had time to work on a new portrait painting. I took inspiration from a photo taken of my daughter last Summer (2024) in our beautiful local West Park. I so wanted to recreate the photo and get the likeness, but although my first attempt was OK, it did’nt quite tick all my boxes. So today I actually went back and corrected the areas I thought needed more work, and I am now so happy with it. That is the beauty working with watercolour; it is so easy to correct if you make a mistake. Carefully dabbing at the area with a brush dipped in water will usually take off any paint, leaving you free to repaint once its dry. I am really pleased that I’ve captured the likeness of the beautiful woman, the verdant foliage and I have now enhanced the purple/red flower with gold acrylic accents. I’m definitely on a bit of a portrait roll at the moment and I’m so enjoying it! This will soon be uploaded to my Shop and will be available for purchase as a giclee print. Thanks for taking time to read my blog!

Blessings,

Val
